Ban of smoking on Silverscreens-Good or Bad?

This is recent bone of contention.Mr.Anbumani Ramadoss has been requesting heroes smoking in silverscreens to avoid it.Is this good or Bad?Minister's concern is that ppl are wrongly influenced by these acts.Should the Heroes ban smoking in Silverscreens?Ppl getting influenced by those heroes are nt hero's mistake.Cinema is all about magic.Things which you can dream in reality can happen only in cinemas. You can see the hero flying b/wn mountains to fight against villains. This is nice to watch and enjoy but not to practise. If the child is doing in the home, itz the mistake of the child and its parents. You can't stop the Hero doing such acts.Likewise, ppl must know the consequences of smoking and smoking bcos ur hero does that is not accepted.

smoking creates originality while banning of the same will render th impact of acting less realistic.still its a good idea as lot of ppeople specialy children take up bad habits by watching the movies

i read a book called tipping point ...he explained the phenomenon that how we get influenced by the people we look upto...i think it mattes it should be baanned for main characters

i really dont think think it is any actor's fault if the script of the film says he has to smoke because cinema is all about fiction and if all directors end up obeying such restrictions den wat happens to ur own "freedom of expression"!!!!yeah and as for the personal life of the actor is concerned obviously he is a person whu lives for people but it is a bad habbit wich any normal being can inculcate in themselves so it is not really his fault but from his side he can at least warn ppl and accept da fact dat it is a bad habbit and ppl shud not get inspired by him specially the youngsters.

how abt banning it in real life too! what is the point in banning them on screen? just because the children see them n try to emulate their heroes! if that is the case, then wht happens when the same children see every other individual smoking on streets?

The youngsters do see evry oder individual on the street smoking but not evry oder individual is an actor hu jumps of mountains and do dere stunts on screen dats y dey get inspired by them and as for banning cigarette is concerned it is a very debatable topic as govt also gets lot of revenue by selling cigarette packets so i doubt govt is actually going to do sumdin abut it.they shud actually get inspired by china hu hav passes a law that a regular company worker shud hav a thin waistline lolz!!!!but actually its a good step to check on obesity.:SugarwareZ-254:

Smoking is injurious for health. by banning it on it silverscreen it would somehow discourage teenagers to pick up smoking.

Ban of smoking on silver screens is not required, people have been smoking since cinemas were not introduced. Actors are just doing it what they require as per script and this is what our leaders should understand and should not waste their time on frivolous matters

ban of smoking can be reasonable but if they try to blur old movies containing smoking scenes, it is nonsense. the most reasonable thing to ban smoking on restaurants and bars like in our country or UK or france...

I think smoking should be banned on silverscreens as it affects children..Many times teenagers learn how to smoke through watching films.

Banning smoking in silverscreen is good, these people actions are being watched by crores of people. People imitate their heros.

In my opinion smoking is personal choice of the smoker and imposing a ban on smoking on silverscreens is not justified at all as the consumers don't get the knowledge they want to have by the manufacturing companies.
