B-Plan @ Passion Festival at IMT Ghaziabad

The annual fest of IMT Ghaziabad, Passion 2011, has just been over. Out of the diversified mix of different events sprawled over the period. B-Plan was perhaps the most interesting one which challenged the creativity of the participants and tested their ability to analyze situations. The program had a preliminary screening round, where participants were asked to submit an executive summary of their Business Plan. Only the top few entries were called in campus for the final round, during Passion 2011, to present their case.

After battling it out with hundreds of other contestants, and putting their skills and knowledge through a grueling test, Ankit and Neha from IMT Ghaziabad were declared the winners. The winners were clearly elated about their feat, and their ecstasy reflected in their words, as they spoke to our reporter about their journey to success.

“We got to know about the intricate details of each and every aspect. The financial aspect could not have been considered if we would have not done this project. We got to know about the BPA setup or any other organization has set up and there are so many things starting from a simple infrastructural point to a highly skilled technical purview. We have to take everything so that is definitely a learning experience. And secondly from the judges” and even by presenting it was a confidence building activity and the way the judge has appreciated and a valuable inputs given and the idea and appreciation given by her about the nonexistence of this particular model in India as compared to the current situation in the world is really an encouragement to build this kind of a model in future.” Clearly, it’s not only the coveted trophy that they are excited about, it is more about the experience, the learning and the knowledge gained.

Neha chipped in with further insights. “It is a great initiative because we have been in this institute for the second year and we have seen a great deal of improvement year by year. The organizing committee organizes everything in a very nice way. There is a greater variety of contestants and better representation from different colleges which in itself is a great achievement. Given the quality of competition is going up. Personally I have experienced that in the Plan competition there are teams which have innovative ideas which in itself shows that there is a trend of upcoming entrepreneurs in India institutes as well.”

Before we left the winners to celebrate their well deserved victory, Ankit had word of advice for the future participants. He said, “When you’re working on a plan you have to take a lot of aspects on how you’re going to raise acute the plan or what are the ways in which you will arrange the finances and what will be the logistical and operating problems that will come in. So you need to discuss and continuously build upon the idea. What I would suggest is that, with the idea you backup the top with a very strong thinking and research.”
