1. Assessment centre method:
This is a modern method of assessment. It is a radically different method from the traditional appraisal techniques. The method uses a number of assessor and different activities. In a job related simulated situation the behavior of the employee is assessed through their performance of different activities / exercises such as committee meetings, psychometric tests, etc.,
Purpose of Assessment Centre
a. To measure the potential of the candidate for higher managerial position.
b. To assess training and development needs;
c. To select candidates in campus recruitment or fresh students for employment;
d. To identify future potential leaders.
The assessment Centre generally measures interpersonal skills, organizing and planning abilities, stress tolerance capacity, motivational orientation and communication skills of the candidates.
The drawback of this method is that it is a time consuming activity. To make Assessment Centre successful the objectives of the centre must be clearly stated.
