Asian Markets Update by Epic Research

Asian stocks were mixed Monday due to ongoing geopolitical tensions while volumes were light with Japan shut for a public holiday.

China’s Shanghai Composite was down 0.16 percent or 3.35 points at 2,055.71. Singapore’s Straits Times was up 0.14 percent or 4.78 points at 3,315.31.

South Korea’s Seoul Composite gained 0.38 percent or 7.60 points at 2,027.02. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted added 0.73 percent or 68.66 points at 9,469.63.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was flat at 23,458.30 and Japan’s Nikkei shut today.
 
Asian equity markets rose on Tuesday as geopolitical concerns in eastern Ukraine and the Gaza strip eased following new developments overnight.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was up 0.18 percent or 3.62 points at 2,058.10. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng gained 0.79 percent or 184.33 points at 23,571.47.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei added 1 percent or 152.65 points at 15,368.36. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was flat at 3,311.61.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite was up 0.16 percent or 3.31 points at 2,021.81. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted rose 0.16 percent or 15.44 points at 9,456.41.
 
Asian equity markets rose on Thursday following upbeat economic data from China and as the region%u2019s earnings season got under way.

Japan%u2019s Nikkei was up 0.20 percent or 31.19 points at 15,359.75. Singapore%u2019s Straits Times rose 0.16 percent or 5.32 points at 3,346.02.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite jumped 0.68 percent at USD 14.18 points at 2,092.67. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng added 0.31 percent or 73.12 points at 24,044.99.

South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite added 0.26 percent or 5.35 points at 2,033.67. Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted gained 0.15 percent or 14.39 points at 9,513.75.
 
Asian equity markets were mostly higher on the final trading day of the week following another record close for the S&P 500 overnight.

China%u2019s Shanghai Composite was up 0.18 percent or 3.84 points at 2,108.90. Japan%u2019s Nikkei gained 0.57 percent or 86.37 points at 15,370.79.

Singapore%u2019s Straits Times was down 0.14 percent or 4.65 points at 3,349.24. South Korea%u2019s Seoul Composite added 0.28 percent or 5.67 points at 2,032.29.

Taiwan%u2019s Taiwan Weighted shed 0.47 percent or 44.54 points at 9,483. Hong Kong%u2019s Hang Seng was flat at 24,158.
 
Indian ADRs ended mostly lower on Friday.

In the IT space, Infosys shed 1.02 percent at USD 55.20.

Wipro was up 0.69 percent at USD 11.99.

In the banking space, ICICI Bank declined 1.57 percent at USD 50.63.

HDFC Bank fell 1.51 percent at USD 48.24.

In the other sectors, Tata Motors declined 1.41 percent at USD 40.52.

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories rose 1.06 percent at USD 44.97.
