Many companies in India like Infosys, EDS & Mphasis are all asking their former employers to come back who had quit in the first place, It's great that they are asking, but there will be many things that in an employees mind that will be going through, due to various reason's one would have quit the job in a company, what will it happen if they are joining the same company again after quitting, will they be able to get the same respect that an employee had, and will he grow same as others in that company, there are many questions that needs to be answered.
It all depends on the reason why you have left. I assume that a company will not ask someone to come back if they had a major disagreement unless the point of conflict has been removed / resolved.
If a employee left because of opportunities elsewhere, you should ask yourself if the company should ask him / her back since a new opportunity will probably lure the employee away again. This makes the employee a liability.
