When you take a long time to finish, you are slow,
When your boss takes a long time to finish, he is thorough.

When you don’t do it, you are lazy,
When your boss does not do it, he is busy.

When you do something without being told, you are trying to be smart,
When your boss does the same, he takes the initiative.

When you please your boss, you are apple polishing,
When your boss pleases his boss, he is cooperating.

When you make a mistake, you’re an idiot,
When your boss makes a mistake, he’s only human.

When you are out of the office, you are wandering around,
When your boss is out of the office, he’s on business.

When you are on a day off sick, you are always sick.
When your boss is a day off sick, he must be very ill.

When you apply for leave, you must be going for an interview.
When your boss applies for leave, it’s because he’s overworked.

When you do good, your boss never remembers,
When you do wrong, he never forgets.

So MPites here's a chance for you to share your views about your bosses. Do you feel that your boss is cunning and doesnt treat you well or whatever may be the case.

So comment on bosses. Here we go..............

Well if not all, atleast the majority of bosses are cunning. However i think it is required today in order to be competitive in the world

it depends on our luck sometimes.......... who knows one may get a nice boss who treats us well !!!

Looking for more views................................

Bosses dont even know what they are talking...I spent two year with my boss in an IT company with NO IT BACKGROUND...all talk n no actions

tell you something... nice bosses (the kind ones) are the most cunning of them all. If you have a hard ass boss he is the same bad ass to everyone.

people seem to have hatred for their bosses......................lol

Go on people.......keep posting your views

No, not all - only a few. Have met some really nice persons too, who are ready to groom, teach and help...some are mediocre and others, as usual the failed-idiots who are there just because of their n years of experience. Key is what you wish to become after some years when you'd join the elite league of bosses - be a pain in the backside - or be the helpful guys you always looked upto!

Hi RJ,

Not all bosses are cunning. The pressures of their own seniors and the need to match up with employees at similar levels in other functional units makes them stressed out and they know no alternative but to buckpass to the juniors.
Since they are given authority & also supervise, they feel they can act as per their whims & fancies.

A boss who has himself gone through the grind (i.e.for a longtime) and more knowledgeable will be more understanding rather than one who has progressed faster, as he is more insecure.

Ultimately, if you look it at in a positive way, then you learn a lot from them, obviously you need to learn to deal with their cunning ways without making them know that you are aware of them. Its better to deal diplomatically, without instigating the Boss against you and without harming your interests.
Being firm and clearly focussing on the purpose at work/ while making decisions im pacting your work, other related issues, etc and conveying same to your Boss will be effective, however cunning he is. All you need is loads of patience.
Sometimes Logic wins with such people/ if you can assure them of your quality of work/ win their trust- however difficult it might be, then they may tend to be less cunning and manipulative. He might not accept it at first or several times, but may have to later, when he realises your suggestions are working, though he may tend to not give you credit for that.

If you cant change your boss, obvious thing you do is change the job within the co. / change the organisation. Thats much better, but damage to your growth/ mentally would be much lesser if you make this decision much early, after you experience your Boss's cunning ways.

Good discussion going on here. The topic though is very similar to the question what came out the chicken or the egg. Every chiken was once an egg and every egg will once become a chicken :)

Hope the example is sufficient to drive my point home.

No. not all bosses are cunning. Its one's own perception to judge whether his/her boss is cunning or not.

No, i don't think so all the bosses are cunning. Every coin has its two sides and the same way good bosses are also there when we speak about bad bosses. It is just our luck that which boss do we get good or bad..

Not really. I disagree.. we should also see it from Bosses perspective.. most of them are quite good.. I agree we see some idiots..here and there.
