Anger Management

Controlling Anger (Anger Management)

So you are angry?

Mad at someone?

Cursing everyone and everything around you?

Better understand this thing so that you could take over it instead of letting it take over you, this thing is called Anger.

Anger is a healthy mechanism launched by your mind in order to protect your rights, to help you get what you want or to help you be in control. In order to deal with anger you must understand the nature of the emotion you are dealing with, after all you can’t fight an invisible enemy, the following examples will help you to identify what exactly is anger by knowing what triggers it,understanding what triggers your anger is the first step in anger management, you can get angry when:
  • Someone takes your turn while waiting in a queue, here you get angry at the person
  • You have lots of work to do and the computer is so slow, here you get stressed and then get angry, believe it or not, you get angry at the computer itself, then you start to curse everyone else related to the situation.
  • When doing any team work and a team member throws all the load on the rest of the team including you by not working
  • When you are afraid! Yes anger could be the result of fear, just think of the example when someone was just about to crash into your car, don’t you get mad and shout at him? Why so? Because you were afraid that your car gets damaged, so anger in that case was because of fear.
  • When someone makes fun of you
  • When your boss shouts at you
  • When your boss overloads you by work
out of all of the previous examples we can see that anger was triggered either to preserve your right (like when someone took your turn), when things didn’t go as you expected (like the computer being slow) or as a result of fear (in case of someone was going to destroy your car).

The problem with anger is that in many cases it’s totally useless and even destructive, for examples cursing your computer won’t make it run faster, kicking your car won’t make it work, in such cases you are just wasting your efforts instead of properly channelling them, learning anger management techniques will help you to correctly channell your anger instead of directing it somwhere else.

Another major problem with anger is that it is sometimes directed inwards, that is you never take any action and just keep those emotions inside of you. Off course those emotions will have to leak out somehow, maybe through having bad dreams, maybe as an unknown bad mood or even through being discharged at someone else who is totally innocent, think of it when getting angry at your boss, what will happen here? , nothing, you will just return home and shout at the kids if they did any small thing. You will just direct your anger at something else. When you turn anger inwards you may get depressed, scratch your self confidence and even damage your internal organs!!
Know that anger is like any other emotion, it’s a signal sent by your mind to you in order to take action, it’s a healthy emotion that can be channelled through proper channels by using anger management techniques. channeling it correctly will turn it usefull instead of being destructive.
