An Egyptian woman, Sisa Abu Daooh clad herself in a man's clothing and worked on a construction site for near about 43 years to support her family. She has been awarded Egypt's "woman breadwinner" accolade. She has been named as an ideal mother and her hard work, determination and will power finally fructifies. Abu Daooh, has faced myriads of turmoil in her life while she was pregnant in 1920s, her husband died when she was just 20, she was left penniless. She was illiterate and her knowledge was too confined, but her determination and dream to provide her daughter and mother a better life sets her apart from others.

Local culture in Egypt during that time did not allow women to work in a workplace so Abu Daooh, shaved her head, clad as a man and found a job on a construction site. "It was the only way to make money," she said. A lifetime spent in dragging hundreds of bricks every day has made her "as strong as 10 men”, she added. The resourceful widow said she has been living as a man for so long that most of her villages are unaware she is really a woman. "Even my daughter thought I was the dad for years," she joked.

She changed her identity to get a job and also to protect herself from sexual harassment and any kind of abuses. Well, she has lost her old identity and she even doesn’t need them anymore. She is used to these clothes and getting back is never the option. "I have decided to die in these clothes,” she said. "I've got used to it now." She said.
