nternational Management Institute, Calcutta, a project of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, will welcome its first batch of students on Wednesday.

The three-acre Alipore campus of the B-school was inaugurated on Tuesday by the chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Sanjiv Goenka.

“The IMI is my payback to the city of Calcutta and Bengal where most of my businesses are located,” said Goenka.

The main building on the campus boasts of “state-of-the-art” classrooms, seminar halls, a library, a language lab, an Internet lab, administrative offices and a cafeteria. There is also a hostel complex for boys and girls, capable of accommodating 240 students.

The B-school, recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education, is a part of the reputable IMI family. Delhi and Bhubaneswar are the other cities with IMIs.

Admission to the two-year full-time postgraduate diploma in management, on the basis of CAT scores, started on August 8. Though classes start on Wednesday, admissions will continue till August 13.

The fee for the two-year course is Rs 10 lakh. Merit scholarships will be offered to outstanding students.

Students will study core management subjects in the first year and then choose electives like marketing and finance, retail management, organisational behaviour, human resources, economic and public policy, strategy and operations and technology management.
