The success of the Post Graduate Program at IIM Indore relies on continuous alliances and long term relationships with industry. Ahvan - Annual Management Summit of IIM Indore, known as IRIS till 2008, has been an effort in this direction and a popular name in the Indian B School circuit. Over the years, it has garnered respect for its competitive structure and focus on innovation. The size and scope of the event make it unique in central India.
With the diverse range of events, Ahvan acts as an avenue for greater learning and exposure and a means of networking and forging comprehensive relationships for its participants.
An event like Samanvay[/i][/b] creates an ideal platform for us through which we do our bit to the society in enabling financial inclusion. Ashwamedha[/i][/b] aims at broadening our horizons from a search for managers to the future leaders of India.
Samanvay 2011, under the umbrella of Ahvan ’11, plans to increase the number of beneficiaries from 683 to 1500. ãhvãn ’11 intends to take further steps towards inclusive growth into reality and ensure harmonious socio-economic development of our nation.
2. What is the mission/goal for Ahvan 2011?[/b]
The theme for Ahvan 2011 is Lead to Transform[/i][/b]. To be an able commander is important, but to be able to positively transform everything around you is the first responsibility of a leader. Leaders are looked upon as pillars of strength, knowledge and beacons of inspiration and motivation. All of the great leaders have had one characteristic in common: it was the willingness to confront unequivocally the major anxiety of their people in their times.
Through ãhvãn, one will get the chance to fully exploit one’s skills and to bring about the transformation that one thinks is currently needed. Ahvan is the opportunity to be able to identify problems and transform them into opportunities. Ahvan is about inspirational motivation[/b] to identify what needs to be done and to provide the impetus for all to move forward. ãhvãn is about the intellectual stimulation[/b] through which we questions underlying assumptions and build our own new world. ãhvãn is also about individual consideration, it is our revolution [/b]for something bigger and better.
3. How would you describe the crowd for Ahvan and how do you perceive it to be in the forthcoming year?[/b]
Typically, annual management summit of any institute gets a pool of students from the top 30 B schools of India. However, Ahvan is open to a more diverse group including corporates, non-management post graduates, undergrads and international participants.
Ahvan also has a plethora of on the spot events. These make the environment lively for those who could not make it to the final rounds of an event, thus giving them a fair opportunity to be part of Ahvan through other means.
4. How is the Event Scheduling Checklist for Ahvan?

The flagship events of Ahvan 2011 were launched much earlier than the schedule which is most commonly followed by other similar fests. The primary motive was so as to give the participants enough time so as to book their tickets for the on-campus rounds. This not only made sure that we registered record participation for each of our events, but also giving participants ample time to plan their visit to IIM Indore.
For the on-campus rounds, the event scheduling is going on in full swing. The Events Vertical team is working so as to accommodate the demands of all the events. The schedule will be made available on the website by 5th November.
5. What are the PR and Marketing activities undertaken for ?hv?n?[/b]
PR and Marketing is critical for Ahvan because of two prime reasons. The first is to reach out to our target audience to increase participation and the other is to give ?hv?n visibility at the national level to build the brand and get our partners the mileage for their sponsorship. We ensure to leverage each and every media channel right from Facebook and twitter to conventional print media. We also carry out email campaigns and even visit the colleges around to create the buzz. We also market ourselves online through partnering with website like yours.
6. How do you manage the budget for the event?[/b]
Ahvan is a student driven initiative. Hence all the funds are managed completely by the students through sponsorships and partnerships. The institute also provides us guidance whenever needed.
Ahvanprovides a valuable opportunity for its sponsors to participate as partners, judges, advisors, speakers and mentors, enabling them to communicate and interact with hundreds of talented students from premier institutes of India.
7. How do you plan a difficult situation, if any at the event?[/b]
Ahvan has a dedicated Operations Team, which has been working on the daily operations of the events. The team is ready with its crisis management plan, in case any unforeseen situation arises during the event.
8. Tell us about the planning committee for the event and misc groups formed to make the event a success![/b]
The planning committee for Ahvan 2011 consists of a 20 member core team. The core team is headed by Bhavin Parmar, who is the student coordinator for Ahvan 2011. The team is divided into a number of verticals to manage the different activities involved in successful execution of the event. The different verticals include Corporate Involvement, Creative and Design, Events, Finance, Hospitality, Media and PR, Operations, Participation, Sponsorship and Systems. Each vertical is headed by two coordinators who are responsible for taking care of all the requirements and responsibilities for their verticals.
In addition to the core team, each event has a coordinator and its event team. These teams work towards planning and designing their respective events.
9. What is mantra for a successful event like Ahvan?[/b]
Being the biggest management festival of central India, Ahvan realises its responsibility of being a perfectly managed and organized event, and also providing the best events in its class. The success mantra for Ahvan lies in perfect team coordination and the passion shared within the team to contribute towards a better society and country. The core team and the events teams have been working for months now towards making Ahvan the best and biggest so far.
