A MATTER OF EXCHANGE

A MATTER OF EXCHANGE
Raman Bharadwaj

If you have a rupee and I have one, and we exchange, what we have is
just a rupee with each other. We neither gain nor lose.

If you have an idea or an information to share and I too have an idea
or an information to share, and if we exchange the idea or the
information with each other, both of us will be richer by one more
idea and one more piece of information.

This precipitates the learning process.

There are so many things to learn each day and I really wonder how
people have the time to ignore this reality.

We just need to follow nature and the creations of GOD, to learn, and
believe me we can learn a a lot from them.

Let us see some of the natural creations of GOD

The earth - with its ever increasing burden is still a wonderful
planet, perhaps the only one known to mankind providing him a living.
It gives more than it takes. It is the cradle of all the life we see
around us. It is the place where we all breathe, eat, live, hate, and
kill and all that. When the earth shakes or rumbles, it leaves a
trail of endless disaster. It does so once in a way, but exhibits a
lot of tolerance. We have to learn patience from the mother earth.
While mother earth is mighty it has its weakness too. You pull a tuft
of grass and it opens up a cavity, underneath it.

The sun - It is fiery, and is the source of life for all of us. It
doesn't discriminate between rich and poor, old and young, dark or
fair, animal or human. It is equal for everyone. It supports all the
living that we can see. It performs its routines even on a cloudy day
and even when it rains.
What we can imbibe is the commitment sun has to mankind. Committed
one's are always fiery. Despite it brilliance it has its weakness. It
can't enter the depths of the ocean nor the caves.
Why go that far, if there is no opening it can't enter your house too.

The moon - It is up there growing each day making its presence felt
only when its time comes and then slowly diminishes to virtually
nothing. Its contribution is huge. When it is dark the shining moon,
during the days it appears, it dispels the darkness. Its light being
the most dominant.
It shines even when there are millions of stars surrounding it. The
what is more you get a cool feeling when the moon is up there. The
moon has its share of weakness too it has its share of dark moments
during its cycle. It only gets borrowed light yet sheds all the light
it has and that too very liberally. It fascinates everyone. What we
can learn from the moon is to dominate modestly.

The wind and the air you breathe. You can't see it but you can't be
without it even for a moment. The wind has weakness too. It is
erratic and not very dependable. What we can learn from thee forces
is that your presence is felt even when you aren't anywhere there.

Look at water and learn how to be flexible. It offers no resistance
whatsoever.

Take the case of fire it exhibits no bias, whether it is for a
constructive purpose or a destructive purpose. It does its job.
Without fire or heat our live would have been almost next to nothing.
It teaches us to be impartial, and unbiased.

You can learn from animals and birds too

The monkey - teaches us not to let go any opportunity that comes our
way

The lion - teaches us regality and magnanimity

The peacock - teaches us self esteem, grace and elegance

The pigeon - teaches us contentment, flies within a range and feeds
on whatever it gets therein

The eagle - teaches us to attain altitude in life so that you can
cover a wider range

The rat - teaches us perseverance, it the greatest trier on earth and
very intelligent too

The ant - teaches us to work hard for the present and also the
future

The bee - teaches us to be busy and industrious and also to protect
yourself when you are under an attack. It stings if you get too close

The elephant - teaches us humility, despite being huge, it doesn't
throw its weight around

The camel - teaches us endurance under the toughest conditions

One can go on and on like this even further, and you will find such
harmony exists with all of natures creations. Are we humans like
this ?

The answer, most definitely is no.

One shudders to imagine what would have happened to mankind if the
constituents of nature had the same ego as that of the humans.

What is more beautiful is that we can take these lessons of co-
existence from nature with each other despite their weaknesses,
without interference, perform as programmed by GOD, and are
interdependent.
