204th 1M/1M Roundtable For Entrepreneurs: First Time, From Barbados

You know how much I love seeing entrepreneurs from exotic places at these roundtables. During this week’s roundtable, we had one from Barbados.

Approyo

First, Chris Carter from Wisconsin pitched Approyo, a Big Data solutions provider in the SAP HANA eco-system. Chris is a member of our premium program, and came to us through our partnership with SAP. We have identified a couple of channel partnership opportunities for Chris, and the discussion was around those.;

App/Software idea

Then, Krishnakumar (KK) Parsuram from Bangalore, India, shared that he is preparing for the upcoming Oracle – 1M/1M challenge. KK has a good idea of replacing identity cards and badges on corporate campuses with a cell-phone based security solution. The question he needs to dig into is why aren’t corporate campuses already doing this? What is the appetite for such a solution among facility managers?

Barbados Fashion Brand idea

Last up, Yaisa Peter from Barbados pitched her concept for a new clothing line that is designed and manufactured in Barbados, following the island’s lifestyle. More broadly, she presented the numbers on imports of clothing from the US, a market she wants to take a share from, and create local jobs and a local brand. Very interesting!
