The Political Noise & Opportunity

The Political Noise & Opportunity

The commercial news media is at it, again i.e. provoking people to take stands on non-issues, especially ones being mis-handled by the political leadership. Take the case of so called abetment of a suicide. The views of the social media are keenly asked for, knowing fully well, where would the sympathies likely to be. The cases are blown out of proportion with the government machinery almost doing everything to ensure that issues like the bankruptcy bills/others are not discussed and decided upon.

Clearly our politicians are not in sync with the "change" or the changing demands of the people in modern times. The old time comfort offered and maintained by bureaucracy, suitable for political whims to prevail; is a sought for yearning for these politicians and the new ones (political leaders) seem yet to catch up as of yet, to make a sense of the prevailing situation and take learned positions. The result is that we see a few unknown stray names (of individuals) being blown out of proportion for public consumption and emotional appeal by commercial news media personalities (to social media, for a change), to make positions known over the "issue/s".

The issues raised are rather simple to respond. In case of suicide, the government needs to uncover the extent of flaw in amongst student/s as well as academic administrators, so that such a situation is best avoided. This so, because by the government's own admission, the cases have been happening almost regularly. Now, if these are plain academic pressures or surrogate administrative pressures on select politically minded youths needs to be addressed.

There were some proposals to set up separate colleges to train youth in politics and that seemed to have been dumped after it didn't serve the political purpose; if such proposals need to be revived so that under-privileged youths can be trained and accommodated in such colleges. With regards to the pseudo-debates on freedom and nationalism, well, we need organized academic forums to be able to carry out such debates and all people can discuss these in organized manner rather than taking to streets or fighting in courts (outside rather than arguments in front of judges). This may be a regular affair with free coffee (life blood of such debates) sponsored by organizers and government and quasi-government bodies also having their own debates.

I am sure many readers of these articles would agree that it (sponsored coffee) was a huge miss in the whole affairs and part of the reasons why the whole saga now seem almost out of control, reason for youth to be on streets. Of course the political intervention by government in such noise allows people to conclude that some of them have an axe to grind, by thwarting other issues of public importance and rake public emotions over some (stupid) younglings being roughed up. Respect for human values of freedom comes with a responsibility to be able to organize in some wholesome self-sustaining unit (by people), rather than without any plan to create one, which should be based on such a unit's own merits; and not fanned by competing political forces hell bent to unbalance other political units rather evolving their own sustainable development model/s.

In that sense, the old idea of freedom and colonialism are a thing of past, i.e. on the basis of ethnicity, religion etc. and do not lend any credence to such freedom (of people/individual's) if they do not offer a life with dignity (and allow individual choices to be exercised), a point missed by many.In fact, even in current turbulence some more matured democracies are seen as integrating as an economic unit, often compromising on political freedoms to be more sustainable to compete and offer better dignified living to their people or individuals.

So it is the nation states with their matured political leaders mending their way to improve freedoms and quality of life to their people and that is true for most parts of worlds. Even in current turmoil, much of Asia is still continuing to integrate whether is east in ASEAN or in west (GCC) and the African unity/ies also seem to be rolling further. So the debate in India seems to be commercial news media's own imagination, not in sync with times, we live in. So it's no comments from social media or alternate politics, here.

The interplay between political noise and opportunity presents a complex and dynamic landscape in contemporary governance and public policy. Political noise, which can be characterized by the cacophony of opinions, debates, and sometimes misinformation that permeate the public sphere, often serves as both a barrier and a catalyst for opportunity. On one hand, excessive noise can drown out rational discourse, making it difficult for policymakers to focus on constructive and informed decision-making. It can lead to polarization, where opposing views become entrenched, and compromise becomes rare, thus impeding the implementation of effective policies and reforms. On the other hand, political noise can also act as a signal of a vibrant democracy, where citizens are engaged and vocal about their concerns and aspirations. This engagement can drive transparency and accountability in government, pushing policymakers to consider a broader range of perspectives and to respond to the needs and demands of their constituents. In this context, political noise can create opportunities for innovation and change, as it forces leaders to adapt and find new ways to address societal challenges. The key lies in harnessing the constructive aspects of political noise while mitigating its disruptive effects, ensuring that the public discourse remains a platform for meaningful dialogue and progress.
