Writing Academic Essays And College Admission
Essays – A Detailed Comparison
There is a massive difference that is prevalent from one sort of an article to another sort of
an article. An assignment done for a college admission varies diversely from an assignment
written to be submitted, just like an academic report or paper differs from a paper written
to be admitted to an institution. There is a thin line that differentiates kinds of papers with
one another; such is it when it comes to writing a paper that is academic in nature and
writing one on which the educational career is reliant. Following is a brief comparison
between the two for students to avoid getting into trouble.
Essay writing has become a part of every college student’s life, from essay for several courses
to essays for admissions. Writing an academic essay is usually either explorative or a
contention; that is, it either explores a previously introduced idea or comes up with an
entirely new idea. Academic essays demand textual evidences that prove that what the
student is speaking of is not based on a whim but has certain roots and is concrete enough
to have previously been raised by famous authors, writers and critics. They demonstrate the
student’s ability to research and quote without errors. It is judged on the basis of how well
the student writes, their vocabulary and their sentence structure; but all in reference to
their exploration or contention.
Whereas an essay written for a college admission is something slightly different; beginning
with the fact that it is not a contention or an exploration, rather it is simply the
demonstration of the skills of the students and is judged solely on the basis of how well the
student writes, their use of vocabulary and their sentence structure. An academic essay is
written to understand and polish the skills of an individual, whereas an essay written for
admission is to identify whether the student even possesses the very basic ability to write
something original or goofy enough entirely on their own.
An essay written for admission can be taken a step further and turned into an academic
essay with extensive research, whereas an academic essay can be brought down a notch
and turned into a creative essay; one that is deprived of quotations and extensive research.
Thus, the very basic difference between the two essays is that one is used to demonstrate a
student’s abilities and the other is the mode through which those abilities are further
polished.
