The World Bank will be lending a helping hand to Sankalp, a women's self-help group formed by project affected persons in the city for improving their skills and learning ways to market their products internationally.
Sankalp was founded by women from families, which were displaced by the road- widening projects under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) during the last six years.
It now has 250 women members and employs 350 women who make food items, print cards and stationery as well as undertake housekeeping operations at several institutions. The bank is also gonna provide them with marketing assistance and help them source best practices from abroad.
It is one of the main functionaires of MUTP programme.
