Wilson students not happy with change in class timings

Wilson College administration would not have imagined that its decision to change its working hours by a mere hour in the evening would have drawn mammoth repercussions.

As per the new decision, regular lectures for the junior college students will commence at 1:30pm and end at 5:20pm as against the earlier schedule of 12:30pm to 4:20pm.

Colleges felt the new timetable would provide relief to students who travelled great distances to reach college in the morning. SS Parker, vice-principal of Wilson College, said: “The decision to change the timetable was initiated based on recommendations from students.

Those coming from distant places wanted degree college lectures to start at 8.00am as they found it difficult to travel to college early in the morning. We hope the new timetable will regularise the college working hours and also see a cent per cent attendance this year.”

But Wilson College students had mixed opinions. Some welcomed the decision, while others felt an extra hour would disturb their day’s schedule.

“An extension of an hour in the evening will clash with my tuition timings,” said a standard XII student. Another student, Gauri Joshi, said, “The college should have consulted us before preparing the new timetable. I will have to wait 20-25 minutes for a Virar local, which could have been utilised in studying.”
