When the 2G fire hasn't even died down, there is something that is much more brewing. This about the phone tapping.India's 2 leading telecom operators are now washing the dirty linen in public.India's leading telecom operator has disclosed that it got a request to tap some 1L phone calls/day and Govt has categorically denied giving any such request.SC is awestruck with this revelation from the operator and is taking a hard stance on the users' privacy.Even a few months ago,India's leading business conglomerate phone conversation with his PR was played in many media channels. This was not a unique case.Even some of India's leading politicians phone have been tapped earlier.SC is now seriously considering breach of privacy in tapping one's phone calls. What made the SC to now take this issue to the centrestage? This issue is no new to common man.He/She has been getting numerous telemarketing calls everyday inspite of registering his/her name in the DNC(Do Not Call) register.Isn't that a breach of privacy? How are the personal numbers getting into the hands of some marketing persons?People get calls from unknown insurance companies/credit card agents and horde of SMS everyday regarding offers & promotions.Isn't it a lesser crime than tapping someone's phone? The phone number of a person is being circulated among some vicious agents who distribute it to his/her friends. This problem has been in the industry for decades. Why hasn't the SC dealt it with stern hands? Why now pay much attention to phone tapping? What is the use of DNC or DC registry when it is not implemented in spirits? Are the operators paying the price for calling someone from the DNC registry? There was no news in that regards. Are all operators complying with the law?I don't think so.SC is paying so much attention now because this is the case of politicians/businessmen and not about a common man.Nevermind, can the law atleast do something now to take care of common man?

SC,we trust you so pls don't betray us.

-Deepak.
