MBA aspirants have rejected private colleges this year. Such is the distrust that out of 196 colleges offering MBA courses across the state, seats only in four colleges has been filled.

Out of these four institutes, four are of Indore and one from Bhopal. The second round of counseling will begin from August 10.

After the first round of counseling, only 17 percent seats in private colleges were filled while over 85 percent seats in government colleges were grabbed. Total 4,059 seats were allotted in the first round counseling.

The lack of interest among students for private colleges has worried the administration of such institutes.

“This year the trend has been surprising as less number of students are showing interest in technical and professional courses. We have decided to call a meeting of the association soon to decide our future course of action and also discuss the issue with the government,” Sunil Bansal, president, Association of Private Technical and Professional Institions, told Bhaskar News.

On the other hand, Ashish Dongre, Director, Technical Education, believes that the MBA institutes of the state have not been able to attract students.

“Though some institutes have developed their reputation among students, MBA aspirants have also become more vigilant. Students want good placement offer from the institutes,” Dongre added.

Private colleges that got good response are:

- Prestige College, Indore
- IPS College, Indore
- Govindram Seksaria College, Indore
- IPER College, Bhopal
