In 2007,most parts of North India namely Mumbai,Gujarat,Rajasthan,Bihar,Kolkatta were worstly affected by floods. Some of the districts have received unprecendented rainfall. We have lost ~20 lives and hundreds of people are still struggling back to normalcy. So whom should we blame for such a kind of diaster? Is it the lethargic nature of the Meterological Dept which should have acted as a harbinger warning abt the forthcoming monsoon. The worst is that they have predicted below average rainfall. If the above conditions are below average,I'm not sure what will be the condition if they say plentiful rainfall.
Next comes our ever-sluggish Disaster Recovery Dept.Already we are aware of after-effects of rainfall a couple of yrs ago esp in Mumbai. We are nt prepared to handle the rainfall even in this season too.so what are they doing in all these days?I understand that this is a natural calamity but the response people have received during and after the rains are nt satisfactory. It shows the absolute off-handedness of the Diaster Recovery Dept of India.
Inspite of these negatives there one respite-No one blamed the plentiful rainfall on global warming
