Can you sing? Bring your best voices to Carter Road this weekend. Local residents have organised a singing contest Carter Road Idol, which will be held at the amphitheatre on the promenade between May 11 and 19. According to Naaznin Hussien, of Bandra West Residents Association (BWRA), "The event will be open to all. It will be of great entertainment value to people, who visit the Carter Road promenade." The BWRA has been successfully organising Marico Evenings, a musical and dance event for the past several years at the Carter Road amphitheatre. Providing more details about the contest, Simran Khanna, Assistant Event Manager, D and D Promoters said, "Participants can take part by registering on the spot on any day of the event by paying Rs 50. The participant would be asked to sing on a Karaoke microphone. The participant’s score will be flashed on the basis of the singing ability and the quality of the voice. Based on the score, a winner will be selected." Carter Road has become the most happening place for tourists as well as locals. "We have decided to stage the contest on Carter Road to create more awareness about the place among tourists, who would be treated to a memorable experience." The event managers have also tied up with an audio cassette company. "If any participant has an outstanding talent, he or she can get a chance to cut an album with the music company," Khanna added.
