Considering last possession means when we become old then it would be dog only because there r 2 possibilities :
If you are female diamonds doesn't match with wrinkled skin and in that old age there wont be anyone to attract towards yourself by means of diamond, and if you are a male than men normally buy diamonds for investment and status, as we all know diamond price increase takes time, it is not as gold. so in simple word if u have long holding time then only we will purchase diamond.
ya coming to the topic saying whether dog or diamond as last possession . I wold say DOG, now a days when it is regular to hear that robbers murdered old person at home for of course robbery, it would be danger to choose diamond which have no use other than status symbol.
Whereas if u own dog then at least it would be somewhat security of ours and even you won't feel loneliness which is normally seemed to happen with old people. they can share their feelings with pet.
