Maruti Udyog has been ranked the highest in automotive sales satisfaction followed by Skoda and Fiat, according to the latest consumer survey conducted by research firm J D Power Asia-Pacific.

Maruti jumped two positions over the last year's rankings and along with Skoda, which stood ninth last year, and Fiat, which jumped five positions, ranked higher than the industry average in the J D Power 2004 Sales Satisfaction Index.

The study, the fifth in the series, examined satisfaction level of over 3,600 new-vehicle buyers at the time of purchase, a JD Power release said here today.

Ford followed at fourth position followed by Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Opel. Toyota, Tata Motors, Honda Siel and Mahindra were at the bottom of the list.

This is the first time Maruti has topped the list, the release said. The company's dealers were the most consistent in meeting customer expectations, it said, adding nearly one-third of all Maruti customers were highly satisfied with their sales experience.

Skoda made a dramatic turnaround in performance while Ford continued to build on last year's impressive performance, the research firm said.
