The key to a good brand and corporate image in the minds of the public is a good and effective communication strategy. And Public Relations plays a crucial part in taking this strategy forward. As far as PR is concerned, CNN-IBN has been a participant in many a initiatives concerning the public cause.

There was a recent report by a CNN-IBN journalist from Mulgabban in Vidharba region in Maharashtra, where there was a case of an acute water shortage problem. And, the government records took little note of the ground reality where they stated the tribal village having sufficient supply of water. CNN-IBN has partnered Baba Amte’s Maharogi Sewa Samiti (Center for Social Action) in constructing a check-dam to store the water, which flows downhill from a spring.

The money generated from a CNN-IBN initiative is being used for the construction of the dam, which will provide water to the farmers. The project has also generated employment opportunities for the locals. CNN-IBN had earlier reported the painful story of a farmer who was compelled to plough the field himself after he lost one of his bulls.

The story caught viewers' attention and help poured in from across the country. CNN-IBN was able to collect Rs 2.5 lakh, which was contributed for funding the check-dam in Mulgabban. "We are using the funds provided by CNN-IBN," says Gajanan, a volunteer. Needless to say, the initiative would not have been a success had it not been for the selfless dedication of these Maharogi Sewa Samiti activists.

Another commendable effort is that 120 former leprosy patients from the Samiti have taken up the task to help the farmers of Mulgabban. Apart from helping in the construction of the check-dam, they are also providing free medical assistance to the locals.
