Nerul, Navi Mumbai, 12th and 13th February, 2011: “VIRTUALITIES” the annual management festival of Siescoms commenced on 12th Feb 2011. This was jointly organized by the General Management, Pharma Management and the Biotechnology Management Verticals based on the theme this year “Economic Revival - Opportunities Ahead”, represented by the Phoenix that rose to a great heights from the downturn caused by recession. The corporate events held across the two days revolved around the opportunities and innovative ways to succeed post the economic revival.
The corporate event was inaugurated by Yeshwant S.S Kapdi, MD - The Clearing Corporation of India Ltd on 12th February, 2011 at 10 am. Marketing, Finance, HR, Pharma and Biotech are the most prominent functions in the management sector and offer lot of lucrative opportunities and developments in the near future. Day 1 included the panellists for the Finance Event – Mudrank were Dr. Brinda Jagirdar (GM & Head Economic Research, SBI), Mr. S. Vishvanathan (MD and CEO, SBI Capital Markets Ltd.), Manish Bansal (Founder & Director of Value Advisors), Mr. Krishnan Chari (Head of Risk Management, ICICI Prudential) who shared their expertise in the banking sector, capital markets, alternate investments and risk management. This event was moderated by Mr. Ramchandran Iyer (Director, Financial Services, KPMG). Business practises with the changing environment requires a re-look at the strategy adopted by the companies. The panellists of the Marketing Event- Parivartan, Mr. K. Chandrasekaran (President – BPO Reliance Communications), Mr.Bedraj Tripathy (CMO- Goodrej Interio), Mr. Shashi Sinha (Senior VP Marketing, Laqshya Media), Mr. Mohan Gopi ( Senior VP Zee Cinema), Mr. Anirban Dutta (GM & Head – Transaction and Banking services) provided us with great insights on Marketing 4.0 – Experiential Marketing, moderated by Mr. Madan Sanglikar(Partner, Principal Invention, Mindshare). The panellists for the HR Event – Nirman were Mr. Bala Subramanian (Exec.Dir.TNS India Pvt.Ltd) , Mr. Vivek Dwivedi ( Associate Dir. KPMG Advisory), Mr. Sanjiv Mishra (Senior GM, Unimark Remedies Ltd), Dr. Kurien Thomas (Founder & Executive Director, Effective Living Incorporation) who spoke on the Upcoming trends in work life balance and Talent retention – partners in progress and moderated by Prof. R S S Mani ( HR Consultant & Management Educator). This event reflected on the progress made by various industries and provided a holistic review by stalwarts from the corporate arena.
Day 2 day two of the festival included panel discussions for the Pharmaceutical management leg – Pharma Vision and The Biotechnology management – Biogerant. The eminent personalities part of this event were Mr. B N Singh (Chairman , Alkem Laboratories Ltd.) as the Chief Guest, Mr. Ranga Iyer (Consultant/ Adviser to various pharmaceutical companies) as the keynote speaker and Mr. S R Vaidya (Business Associate, Pharmore Resources), Mr. Subodh Priolkar (General Manager, Colorcon Asia Ltd.), Mr. Ajit Deshpande (SBU head, Panacea Biotech Ltd.), Dr. Wig; Mr. Gopakumar Nair (Consultant Pharmexil on IPR), Dr. Rajendran (Head, Medical Division, Eris Lifesciences), Mr. A. K. Ghosh (General manager API, Elder pharmaceuticals); Ms. Vandana Mamidanna (IPR consultant) and Mr. Nandakumar Chodankar (Partner, Exmore chemicals) as panellists.
The whole event turned out to be coloured with knowledge, innovative ideas and newer dimensions. The success of the event was a joint effort by the students and professors of the SIES Institute under the esteemed guidance, support, contribution and active involvement from our event heads, Prof. C. Radhakrishnan who headed Mudrank, Prof. Sanjukta Srivastava and Prof. Vatsala Bose who headed Parivartan, Prof. Susen Varghese who headed Nirman, Prof. Sunil Deshpande who headed Pharma Vision and Dr. Chitra Ramanan who headed Biogerant.
It was indeed, a great honour and pride for the institute to organize such an encouraging event and make it a big success. Virtualities was not just an event but a ‘Knowledge sharing stage’ which unravelled the customs followed in the corporate world and acted as a platform for updating the students knowledge base.
