As you all are aware, the results are out. The verdict has been in favour of the current ruling government of the UPA Alliance which means Manmohan Singh will be the first PM after Nehru to be sworn in for a second term in succession.

Point to be debated here is, what could be the reason for the average Indian voter to bring back UPA in power? Clearly, the average Indian is looking for a strong, stable government. UPA had to be in the firing line owing to a lot of problems in their last 5 years of being in power. It was the worst financial crisis ever, worst terrorist attack on India.. and what not. Despite some failures, UPA managed to edge out the NDA in the elections which is remarkable and a testimony to the fact that UPA Alliance have some strong leaders and a good ideology.

I feel this is a strong and stable government and the markets are definitely going to benefit with this verdict. What are your reactions on the verdict?

First and foremost important task for the new Govt is to boost the economy without increasing the fiscal deficit. On vote banks,Congress has won the elections, but the real victory is only after they present the budget for this fiscal. They must tackle the growing fiscal deficit without obstructing the growth of the economy.I remember sometime back during the election campaign our hon.PM told that if we would be elected to power,he would bring the economy back on track in 100 days.PM this is the best time to prove your words.

these can be a few reasons for an increased public response for UPA Govt

India’s average economic growth rate during the five years of the UPA Govt was 8.5% compared to 5.8% under the NDA Government.

UPA substantially increased funds for social progs such as SSA, NHRM, Bharat Nirman, etc winin public confidence

Agriculture(employing around 60% of the total workforce) growth rate increased to 3.1% under the UPA Government as compared to 2.3% under the NDA Government.

people hav tasted the "khao and khilao" format of the upa govt......hence "congress ka hath ab sab sath".........
