Uniting India to get Taj on the wonders of the World
The N7W Foundation wants to document, restore and reconstruct world heritage. Fifty per cent of all net revenue raised will be used to fund restoration efforts worldwide. Criteria employed for short-listing monuments:
- Time span — The wonders should have covered the entire span of human history, from the time man began to make his mark on the earth to the year 2000 AD.
- Structure quality — All monuments and buildings had to be man-made. All had to be in sufficient state of preservation where the originators' vision could still be perceived without artificial aids — ruins, however well tended or reconstructed with visual aids, could not be nominated.
- Geographic dimension — Monuments and buildings from all countries and continents in the whole world were eligible and invited for nomination. However, only 21 candidates were selected as finalists, only one per country.
- Artistic and cultural value — Monuments and buildings had to have artistic or architectural value. Purely technological wonders and untouched natural wonders which had no human intervention, would be included in future projects of New 7 Wonders.
- Recognition factor —Nominated monuments and buildings had to be universally recognisable.
- Diversity — Monuments and buildings had to reflect and celebrate the cultural and social diversity of the people of the world.
- The Pyramids of Giza — The sole remaining Seven Ancient Wonder has been designated as an Honorary N7W Candidate.

After the national anthem and poverty, music genius A R Rahman has another mission - the Taj Mahal.
Rahman has composed an 'anthem' to help gather support for the voting campaign to nominate the Taj Mahal as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The music director was commissioned to compose the album by I Media Corporation Limited (IMCL), who are the official facilitators in India for the New Seven Wonders List that will be announced on July 7 this year in Lisbon, Portugal.
"In the preliminary rounds of voting, we saw that India had absolutely no vote share and the Taj barely scraped through the final 21 nominees. To create awareness among Indians that they have to vote for the Taj, if it has to be shortlisted in the final seven, we asked Rahman if he would compose an anthem," said Bharat Kapadia of 'India Unites for The Taj' campaign.
When asked whether the government had supported this initiative, Kapadia said, "We have approached ministry of tourism but they have not yet taken a final decision on whether they should participate. We are hopeful."
