VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN AUSTRALIA (VET)
:

The pride and confidence that Australia has in its VET system is the result of a long tradition in technical education, a decade of continuous reform and a national system which is truly driven by customers' needs and the quest for quality. Vocational education and training is offered by two types of institutions: Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutes and private training organisations such as private colleges, industry training centres and individual enterprises. These institutions offer a wide variety of training, ranging from preparatory and entry level, through operator and technician to professional levels. A broad spectrum of programs and learning opportunities are delivered with relevant up-to-date industry experience. The Australian Technical and Further Education (TAFE) college system is both Government owned and operated. There are around 110 TAFE institute & 550 private colleges in Australia. TAFE colleges specialise in training students for the workforce. TAFE graduates are in demand from both business and industry for their wide range of practical and technical skills.

Australia offers a wide variety of vocational education and training courses. Each year increasing numbers of international students are choosing the TAFE option, either as a means of training and qualifying for a highly skilled job in business, the arts, or industry, or as an alternative pathway into university degree studies. The advantages for international students choosing to undertake TAFE studies are numerous but lower fees is one of the main criteria.
