TISS to Kick off New Program in Organisation Development and Change

Tata Institute of Social Sciences' (TISS) newest offering--Executive Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Organisation Development and Change (EPGDODC)--for 33 mid career executives for the academic year 2015-16 begins here nextMonday June 14.
"The new program at TISS will be far superior to most post graduate level programs in Human Resource Management as it embeds a distinctive edge by bringing practitioners' perspective and executive coaching as an integral part of the program," says Prof Vijay Kumar, Chairperson of Centre for Social and Organisational Leadership (C SOL) at TISS.
The 18-month program will focus on Organisation Development and Change Management with a focus most often demonstrated by Management Schools in Europe and USA whereas in India at present the country does not have a program like this on OD.
TISS, known for excellence in higher education has responded to the changing social realities and the new program is the next step in this direction.
OD Alternatives (ODA), a consulting firm focused on organisation transformation and leadership development is supporting TISS in this initiative by providing its executive coaches to coach students for the duration of the program. To bring in practitioners' perspective, ODA facilitators will conduct regular classes in this program.
"This programme is futuristic as it emphasizes values of people development, business results so as to provide for sustainability edge to the firms," adds Prof Vijay Kumar who is leading this initiative at TISS.
The goal of this programme is to create managers who could drive organisation development and change in Indian firms. This program will equip attendees to take up Organisation Development positions in their companies.

Organisational effectiveness is a function of organisation's capability to conceptualize and implement organisation development and change initiatives which are sustainable. This programme prepares the participants through classroom teaching, training, field practice and coaching to develop a holistic view of the organisation for facilitating, conceptualizing, designing and implementing OD and Change processes. EPGDODC is one of the first comprehensive Organisation Development and Change Management Programmes in India.
