Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya was established by its parent body called Rashtriya Shikshan Mandal in the year 1933 and the institute holds the pride of being the oldest and first ever Ayurved Mahavidyalaya in the city of Pune, which got its present name in the year 1962. Approximately more than 7500 students of UG and more than 1100 students of PG course have completed their education from this college and all of them are working in different fields. This is a state government institution running under the Government of Maharashtra and it is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Science located in Nashik.


Courses Offered:

Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya offers the following courses:

• Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery

• Doctor of Medicine/Surgery in Ayurveda

• Master of Philosophy in Ayurveda

• Doctor of Philosophy in Ayurveda

While the first two courses are affiliated to the Maharahstra University of Health Sciences, the other two courses are affiliated to Pune University. Some of the details regarding the UG and PG courses affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences are given below:

Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery:

For the BAMS course offered by the college, it is approved with an intake capacity of 100 students per year.

Doctor of Medicine/Surgery in Ayurveda:

PG course in Ayurveda is being offered by the college through a separate center specially meant for offered PG courses called as Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research in Ayurveda. The centre is presently conduction MD/MS in 14 different subjects, as per CCIM norms. Total admission capacity put together for all 14 subjects is 44 students per year.

Admission of students to the courses offered by the Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya is done based on the merit secured by the students in the Common Entrance Test conducted by the Director of Medical Education & Research of Government of Maharashtra.

Activities at the college:

The college follows the regular academic activity of offering quality education and training through the following methods:

• Poster presentation competition

• Patient diagnosis competition

Some of the special academic activities of the institute includes education tour of various departments and special lecture series. In addition, students of Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya are also encouraged to participate in different extracurricular activities to strengthen their talents.
