One of the trivial things people learn throughout their lives but fail to acknowledge properly are issues of cultural-fit. This “Fit” can be looked through the lenses called harmony and dissonance and eventually graded. Mapping the unique organizational patterns of a bunch of people in various stages of life , may open new doors of understanding about compatibility and adaptability or downright alienation.
Whether we pause to look at the people trailing, the forerunners , newbies and veterans ; there are always people who fit in the organization and who don’t. Mostly the incompatibility stems from morality and beliefs.
Let me make my point clear by taking a sample group comprising of A,B,C,D & Z with you as the leader. Now A is earnestly toiling for you but feels homesick. B & C are unlike A and are yet to earn his way into your trusted inner circle. B ; once inside the fold , will either change to fit in the group or end up like A. You always need more B’s and C’s to increase productivity.
Now a Z comes in ; everyone rejects him as he is not in order , but it would bode us well if we take Z too , as he has a unique perspective as being at the end of the alphabet , different from others who had a head start.
Let’s divulge more into their probable mindsets:
(the nodding guy): I have got to learn to accept things , just the way they are.
(the whiner ) : I may have to work here but I don’t have to like it.
(the drifter): I am just a free soul , in search of enlightenment, This job is just a means to the end.
(the escapist) : I have got to get out of here As soon as I find a door or a window.
(the innovator) : lets spice things up a bit and start with the food first.
The more these all feel at home , you will have a prosperous work environment, else believe in your judgment to cut off someone who is cutting out holes in your mast. Otherwise you will stay at the docks forever.
