About The University
The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) is one of the UAE’s oldest and most prestigious universities with a proud, Australian heritage.
Established in 1993 by the University of Wollongong in Australia, UOWD represented a very early Australian initiative in the UAE. From a small beginning at Almullah Plaza, through its landmark presence at Jumeirah Beach Road and to its current location at Dubai Knowledge Village, UOWD is recognized as being an integral part of Dubai.
Today, as an independent UAE institution of higher education, UOWD attracts students not just from the UAE and Australia but from all over the world. Approximately 2,500 students comprising more than 80 nationalities are currently enrolled at UOWD and enjoy a quality academic experience.

Our Mission
The University's Mission Statement seeks to create a teaching and research-oriented institution of higher-level learning. The University of Wollongong in Dubai facilitates the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students to pursue their educational goals, determine the direction of their lives and contribute significantly to their profession, community, and society. It is against this background that the University has developed its mission statement:
The University of Wollongong in Dubai aims to explore, develop and apply human and technological capacity for the benefit of its region, the national and the international community.

Our campus
University of Wollongong in Dubai is currently based in Knowledge Village.
With projected expansion and considerable increase in the number of students, the University decided to consolidate in one location. It acquired a new building in Knowledge Village, Phase 2.
We now are located in Knowlege Village Block 15 and Block 5
UOWD Accommodation
Residential Services offer UOWD students a clean, safe, and economical living option in Dubai, allowing them to live together in a unique multi-cultural environment conducive to academic success, personal growth, and social development.
Residential Services currently house undergraduate, graduate, and English study students in separate buildings for males and females – each overseen by live-in Residence Supervisors.
The Residences are located in Jebel Ali Gardens (approximately 15 minutes by bus from Knowledge Village) and Ewan Complex (approximately 25 minutes by bus from Knowledge Village). All apartments in Jebel Ali Gardens are 3-bedroom flats. Flats at Ewan consist of 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom flats. All bedrooms on both sites are allocated on a shared-basis only, 2 students per bedroom.
Since availability is limited, early registration is required to secure University accommodation. Private and family accommodations are not available in The Residences.
Included in the fees are the following:
Bed & mattress, desk & chair, side table, wardrobe
Internet access
TV with cable service
Kitchens equipped with appliances such as stove, refrigerator, microwave, water cooler
Cleaning service
Laundry facilities
Transportation to/from UOWD scheduled several times a day including evenings for postgraduate classes
Transportation to/from points of interest in Dubai on evenings and weekends
Residence Supervisors providing on-site supervision
A community lifestyle encouraging participation in formal and informal social and sporting activities.
Some items are not provided in the Residences; students should make arrangements to bring the following items or purchase them in Dubai:
Laptop computer
Bed linen, pillow, blankets
Towels
Plates, cups, utensils, pots/pans, cooking utensils
Bedside lamp, electrical adaptors and extension cords
Laundry soap, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, deodorant, toothpaste, and other such personal toiletry items.
Students are also required to purchase their own groceries and prepare their own meals, or order meals from nearby restaurants.
Sports and Recreation Facilities
The sports and recreation facilities are part of the facilities provided by the Complex developers and are not under the management of UOWD. These facilities include a swimming pool, cricket pitch, football pitch, tennis courts and a basketball court. Sports equipment such as basketball & football balls, tennis racquets and balls, and bicycles are provided for students’ use.
Nearby facilities
The Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall, which houses over 200 shops (including a hypermarket, cinemas and amusement arcades, money exchanges, banking services, restaurants, cafes and food courts) is within a short walking distance from Jebel Ali Gardens.
