The Stork with a straight neck_5

Chapter 5-The Lion’s Past –part I

Tired and drained to wits end , was the little stork ;

All he wanted now was to rest ; his eyes swollen .

As soon as towards the dorm , steps he took about ten ,

The eager lion pranced forth , in his tracks the stork did halt.

“ Lost your spirit already , and its not even been a day.

Pay heed if you will , to my tale.

Born was I , a decade ago ; together with an alpha male.

Come out , he did ; with a silver spoon.

Upon his mere sight ; a hundred swoon.

Left not , to the loo ; without a goon,

While I ; looked at every fill of milk as a boon.

For which wait I did ; quarter a day,

Till he ; tired of my mother’s cuddling , finally made way.”

The hourglass turned many a time ,

Overcoming malnutrition ; I was now , a teen.

Whenever for a girl , did I become keen ,

The very next day , with my brother was she seen.

Mocked was I ; for the lack of a mane.

Vent his frustration did my father ; when he hurt his leg,

by hitting me with his crooked cane.

To redeem myself ; from the tag of a runt ,

Ask when I ; my mother , to teach me to hunt ,

Sigh she in dismay ; wondering if I was sane.

Devastated by her unshakable bias,

To learn on my own , I swore .

As the night set in , amidst hoots and shrieks by many a owl,

I watched diligently , the tigress on her prowl.

On her toes , across the grass high ;

Sprang up and into a gazelle’s neck she tore,

A cry of anguish , from the herd ; for half a minute did soar.
