The Power of the Mind
This is a fun exercise illustrating the power of the mind.
Tell everyone to clasp their hands together in front of them with the two forefingers pointing upwards and as far apart as possible.
Demonstrate this.
Now tell everyone to imagine a rubber band clasped around the two fingers and as they stare at them, they will notice that the fingers will slowly come closer and closer together. Even if they try to fight it, nothing will stop them closing. The fingers will eventually touch.
Although this is no trick of the mind, (simply an anatomical fact of life), it is an amusing way to start a discussion of the working of the mind.
