Attitudes can be characterized in 3 ways :

First, they tend to persist unless something is done to change them. Second, they can fall anywhere along a continuum from a favourable to very unfavourable. Third, attitudes are directed towards some object about which a person has feelings (sometimes called ‘affect’) and beliefs.

Meaning of Job Satisfaction ? “A pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one?s job or job experience”. Important Dimensions to Job Satisfaction 1. It is an emotional response to a job situation. It cannot be seen – can only be inferred. 2. Often determined of how well outcomes meet or exceed expectations 3. It represents several related attitudes.

As an attitude, OC is most often defined as:
? A strong desire to remain a member of a particular organization;
? A willingness to exert high levels of effort on behalf of the organization; . . . . and . . . . ? A definite belief in and acceptance of the values and goals of the Organization.

The above is an attitude reflecting employees’ loyalties to their organization and is an ongoing process through which organizational participants express their concern for the organization and its continued success and well being.
The OC attitude is determined by personal and organizational variables. The personal variables are age, tenure in the org, and dispositions such as positive or negative affectivity or internal or external attributions. The organizational variables are, job design and the leadership style of ones supervisors.
