The Mela is back!
Insight, the annual marketing conclave of IIM Ahmedabad, is back - and it is bigger this time. A three day extravaganza, the 28th edition of the oldest fest of the institute is to be held from the 25th to the 27th of September. Under the theme of "Transcending Horizons", the event aims to capture the newest and best practices in the enticing world of marketing.
The main attraction of this fest is, of course, The Great Ahmedabad Mela. An event meant for Amdavadis to gather, explore, admire and revel in the celebration that is unique to this great city and the institution, it is a magnificent coming together of culture, creativity and credos. The stalls managed by the students of the institute provide an opportunity for people of all ages to reconnoitre the variety on display and indulge in a weekend away from the cobwebs of their daily routine. Insight 2015 has lined up an impressive list of entertainment programs to please and engage the eager crowd. Warsi Brothers, Sorabh Pant and Osman Mir are a few household names who shall make their appearance during the fest.
Insight also attracts enthusiastic students, who hope to learn a few nuances about Marketing, from around the country. Based on the demand of students last year, the number of workshops has been increased to five. These cover a wide range of relevant topics such as Digital Marketing and Start-Up Marketing. There is also a workshop by eminent ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar too. Besides these, there are some interesting competitions to nudge the grey matter in the students. Fascinatingly titled events such as Wizards of Barter and Kotler’s Conundrum comprise a part of these stimulating contests. Additionally, speakers from a plethora of backgrounds have been lined up to provide the young minds an opportunity to interact and learn from them. Ajay Jadeja, Ashish Mishra and Devdutt Pattanaik are some names in that, rather diverse list.
The event is to be kicked off on the 24th with The Great Ahmedabad Run - a run with the aim of creating awareness about the need to care for the heart and keeping it healthy. This run is to serve as a precursor to the Heart Day programs that are to take place on September 29.
Disconnect, a flea market for designers, is being organized on the 26th and 27th of September. An event unlike any other, Disconnect is an opportunity for visitors to view products from upcoming designers across a wide range of apparel, accessories and decor.
Prashant Tiwari, the Secretary of Insight 2015, is enthusiastic about the success of the event, "Over a hundred students have worked towards providing the students and the people of Ahmedabad a weekend of fun filled learning. The distinctiveness of the event has raised the expectations this year. However, I believe we have strived to not only meet, but also exceed them. We are eagerly looking forward to spending a weekend of celebration with the Amdavadis."
It is, indeed, time for Ahmedabad to celebrate.
