The Media Hatred of Bachmann

Isn't she sort of Palin number 2? And people know Palin well. I wouldn't expect their policy positions would be very different, but Bachman could be smarter and capable of having an interview with a neutral or hostile media outlet without looking like a ditz. Plus her accent and sentence structures might not be as horrible as Palin's. Ugh. Palin is an affront to the english langauge.

A lot of what determines who people vote for is superficial. For instance, throughout the past 100 years, the taller candidate usually wins (about 70% of the time).

I am aware of the process. My point is that she initially simply said "leave it up to the states"...which, to her credit, was consistent with her position on other issues.

Then other candidates answered and supported a constitutional amendment; Bachmann got rattled and refused to back off from her "leave it up to the states" position, while also saying she now (but not 1 minute earlier) wanted a constitutional amendment just like everyone else.

Your argument is that well, she's not completely wrong, the states do get a say in a constitutional amendment! Sure they do, but the winning side wins and gets their way and the losing side gets the will of the majority forced upon them. So if she really and truly wanted it to be a state decision, she would let it be decided on a state-by-state basis, so every state was able to have the solution they want. THAT would be how you support individual states' rights, not by issuing a constitutional amendment.
