Mr. Rajan Tejuja, a distinguished alumnus of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies addressed the MMS Batch of 2014 on the 28th of July, 2012. A gentleman with an extremely warm and jovial disposition, Mr. Tejuja began his interaction by giving the batch a small glimpse of his life right from his experiences at JBIMS, his early days at work to the point he became the President of Jannsen at Johnson and Johnson.

A short film on the exponentially increasing opportunities mankind faces at this point of time was played. A sharp contrast between life a couple of decades ago and life at present was depicted in the short film. The brilliance in the advent of latest technology in all spheres of life, be it automobiles, electronic goods, architecture, agriculture and even education was the highlight of the film. All in all, a very inspiring video!

Mr. Tejuja gave a lot of emphasis to the fact that one should start thinking for oneself. It’s high time we got out of our comfort zones and explored newer and more productive avenues in life. Opportunities are available to us everywhere, glaringly visible, but it is our reluctance and lackadaisical attitude that has prevented us from laying our hands on these ventures. More opportunities, naturally, have led to more and intense competition all over the world. We need to accept and face these challenges head on in order to stay on track with the pace with which the world is travelling.

One needs to be pushed beyond one’s limits. One needs to ask for more challenging projects because unless one is not thrown to unfamiliar situations, one cannot find out what one really wants. Self-realisation and introspection are absolutely essential in helping one take up challenges and thus making use of one’s strengths. A person needs to find out what keeps him going. Curiosity is what is required. Unless one is curious enough, one can never learn. A horse can only be taken to the pond, you can’t make him drink!

Mr. Tejuja ended his wonderfully inspiring session with a very important tip- “Be flexible but keep the end result in mind.”
