We, the Bibsoians, spent 12.12.12 in the bountiful expanse of the
Botanical Garden, Shibpur. The garden, which is a haven for the
students of botany turned out to be one of the learning centres for
the management students of Bengal Institute of Business Studies
(BIBS).
The activity filled day, at the Botanical Garden, was learning for
life experience altogether. The day began with some management games
which were played in groups. The group activities gave us one more
chance to build up group cohesiveness and conceptual skills. Just
before the lunch time, we had some warm-up sessions with our mentors.
Their participation in the activities doubled our excitement for the
day.
Post lunch, we were in a fascinating mood altogether, when it was
announced that we would have a treasure hunt at the garden. Each group
was given a map and pictures of three pit spots for the treasure hunt.
The groups had to read the map to reach the pit spots and solve the
puzzles at those spots to discover the treasure. The treasure hunt was
for half-an-hour, in which we had to cover all the three spots and
reach the destination point. It was not an easy thing to do, so we had
to split our groups to make the hunt faster.
At dusk, it was time for us to wrap up, and the fun filled day
finally came to an end. Only at BIBS, we are taught to apply our
managerial skills in practical life, as the corporate world looks
forward to competent managers for the successful running of their
business. BIBS teaches us to be excelling managers in future who can
solve problems quickly and plan the stages of any task in detail.
