The ‘Game’ forecast and Poll Results

The ‘Game’ forecast and Poll Results

When public is undecided, the poll results are often complicated. The poll verdict of the people in Karnataka is more a testimony of the same. While the party in power in the state lost its mandate, but no other party could claim to be a serious enough contender, even though every one of the political party’s top Netas may be celebrating in order to message their supporters of having won the ‘mandate’, and thus their legitimacy to ‘govern’. The reason is that despite a three way contest and a split of votes, the so called ‘stronger’ opposition could still not claim the benefit of anti-incumbency to mobilize a good chunk of voters in their favour. There were a substantial number of people who wanted to go some other way than to the principal opposition party in the state. This has been unlike any other state where the ‘then strong opposition’ managed to mobilize the people to vote in patterns that helped them to hoist themselves on the political pinnacle in those states. Given this backdrop, the ‘Prophecy of the Game’ (http://www.managementparadise.com/article/9759/the-prophecy-of-the-game-part-ii ) would stand and would run its course.

Many of the political pundits may want the prophecy to be made obsolete, since that would ensure enough political churning for comfort of any Neta/party. However the measured political prophecy of the ‘Game’ keeps on getting reiterated time and again on account of the political results. Thus the ‘Hypothesis’ is proving itself, even if the Commercial News Media as well as the Political Netas may want to live in denial of the same. So instead of throwing in more ‘manpower’ and ‘moneypower’ to alter the poll results in their favour, it might be a better idea to re-look at the party structures, strategies, offering and overall approach. Flowing with the trends which behaving as though that one is ‘leading’ it, might be a better idea and this is also something that is not unknown to the Netas. However it may require quite a lot of effort for the ‘makeover’ and not every Neta may swim-through, and would therefore have its political fallout. However, not making any changes are in any case having their political fallouts in any case and is not being liked by a chunk of the Netas. Let the ‘Game’ evolve…..
