T-Nite: Annual Student Festival livens up IIM Ahmedabad !

IIM Ahmedabad witnessed three days and four nights of unadulterated fun, entertainment and intense competition of a very different kind as the six sections from the post-graduate and executive programmes battled it out at the Ultimate Section Rivalry in IIM A- T-Nite that concluded late night on Sunday. Sections A,B,C,D and E from the PGP/ABM/FPM programmes and the PGPX section from the Executive programme crossed path as they went about put their best foot forward to win the coveted title of champion this year. Commencing on Thursday 8th August, this year's T-nite witnessed bigger, better and more diverse potpourri of cultural performances as compared to the previous years.

It was an effort that required many long hours of painstaking effort from the organising body – the Cultural Committee (Cult Comm) at IIM A. Being a four-dayevent, the planning of this mega-celebration of sorts required weeks of planning, co-ordinating times of busy second year students, faculty guests and eminent personalities who visited the campus for judging various talent shows put up as part of T-Nite. The CultComm members could be seen busy running around to and fro between the two sprawling campuses of IIMA, ferrying colourful graffiti, giant-sized section banners, arranging for live video shoots and setting up the Grand Stage at the RJM Auditorium for the scintillating evenings.Bhushan Gachake, the Cultural Secretary of IIM Ahmedabad put it very aptly, "T-Nite is a concoction of talent and enthusiasm which in fact binds together students of the sections. The spirit of bonhomie mixed with good humoured competition brings the entire campus alive on its feet for these four days. And the suspense till the very last second just shows you how respected and coveted the title really is!"

The event kicked off with interesting races and poster making during the Pub Run night on the 8th.Barely had the students dusted off the hectic pace of events for the Pub Run, when there was time for the sections to put up energetic dances to a packed IIM A mess at the Mess Nite. But the ride wasn't over yet. There lay ahead a long night of arduous preparation for the RJM night the next day which saw the Class Representatives putting up solo performances, ably supported by some dramatic moves and acts by their section mates. The Finale on the 11th saw a beautiful gallery of art work and king-sized banners being created by the artistes across the section. The day was brought to a mesmerising end with the Finale Performance where different genres of dance, music, dramatics and group acts were put to test.

After much suspense, Section E emerged as the T-nite champion this year. The winning section's student representative, Gurbakshsingh Khalsa was all smiles - "It's a hearty feeling indeed to be the Section winning the ultimate honour, we are elated, and can't stop smiling. We haven't been this happy since coming to IIM A. More than anything, this event taught us how amazing the culture at IIM A is in reality; we had only heard tales of it before."

The battle has ended but the deafening cheers from students across the campus spoke about how this event had in fact brought them all together. Generations after generations of skilled young managers have graduated from the IIM Acampus with bittersweet memories. But there's one tale that brings a smile to their faces every time they recount it to friends and family- The story of T-Nite!
