HEY MPites...lets start off with the discussion on service sector marketing...every week one service company will be taken and its marketing strategy will be discussed...

lets start from the basics...

So what is the difference between product marketing and service marketing?

Many businesses know how to market products, but it is trickier to market services.

i feel the main reason behind this is that the consumer in case of services is buying something intangible..it is only the experience that he is buying...so his perception of the services will hugely depend on how the service is delivered to him and also how he has perceived the service to be....

everyone please contribute your views on the same....

Services marketing is marketing based on relationship and value. It may be used to market a service or a product.

Marketing a service-base business is different from marketing a goods-base business.

There are several major differences, including:

1. The buyer purchases are intangible
2. The service may be based on the reputation of a single person
3. It's more difficult to compare the quality of similar services
4. The buyer cannot return the service

The major difference in the education of services marketing versus regular marketing is that instead of the traditional "4 P's," Product, Price, Place, Promotion, there are three additional "P's" consisting of People, Physical evidence, and Process.

yes sevice marketing is a trickier job...because he is not able to view the thing that he is paying the money for...this is not the case for products..the person can look at the product..feel it..examine it,,n then pay the money...

for service marketing many things have to be taken into consideration...like the emotional appeal...the companys image...etc...
