Shahrukh khan or king khan as he is called in the bollywood industry got a huge PR hype when he was detained at the US airport for 2 hours. :SugarwareZ-096:

While people dropped their jaws :o , cricketer harbhajan singh made an interesting comment that its only natural and airports all over the world have their codes and procedures which are standard for every individual.

While I agree to his statement that even a celebrity is only human and lives of thousands of individuals cannot be risked on the public image of some celebrity.

Even respected sir abdul kalam had to go through the same screening at the indian airport itself and even that did not receive such PR hype.

Do you justify the media? Are you on the side of the airport authorities or is your opinion aligned with stature of shah rukh khan! ?

the indian media has acquired a name for itself over the way it eulogises some, and razes others. and anyway, in this country, where bollywood and cricket are religions in themselves, it is no wonder that SRK garners gr8r hype than mr. kalam...

it was done wrong.. SRK is a world known personality..
america must alter their security checks atleast for big idols of the society.

whatever happened with SRK was not right because it was based in caste and name. if all happened due to some security measure then it can be tolerable

Be it kalam, or shahrukh... rule is rule and everyone must follow it... this is a phenomenon unique only with India, and let us not change others if we do not change

Debatable but thats why they could prevent another 9/11 from happening. One must not forget that there are many who are not even aware about Mr.Khan and his body of work. You cannot judge the actions of a officer who was only doing his job. Call it profiling, or whatever....he held a person for he felt the need to clarify.
It worked well for SRK with all the PR it means to his forthcoming movie"My name is Khan"

I don't understand what the big deal is?!

Who does he think he is?! Its actually quite pathetic of him to protest that HE was held up....

What he should be protesting is that there is racial profiling is practiced very widely in US airports!!

srk's detention has been completely overhyped just cos he is a celebrity. Its not that he needs any more publicity but then its been overdone by the media. we should learn strict security measures of western countries and try and maintain similar standards

Just because he is a celebrity, this was blown out of proportion. I think this happens to every passenger at some international airports.

Shah rukh is such a big brand in himself that we would not use such a thing as a publicity stunt for promoting his film...
considering the 2 incidents....Dr. kalam was just frisked...while shahrukh was detained fr 2 hours..agreeing to all the comments tht rules should be similar fr all..but in this case the airport authorities were trying to know his identity and why he has come to america n stuff...this is uncalled fr coz hes one of the most famous poeple in the world today and they would have gt his identity checked in 5 mins,,,thn y detain him fr 2 hrs....

I think it was about 66 minutes actually. While unfortunate, it would be argued that the Security officers were essentially doing their job. Racial profiling is a part of security procedures wherever you go in the world - whether its a social evil or a neccessary measure can be debated. The media, by concentrating on the SRK factor has actually done a disservice by trivialising the larger issue. Any person who has faced such an issue because of his racial identity would have the same issues.
In any case, whatever they're doing has worked for the US - after all, they're not that one's who've had multiple attacks happening on their soil; we are.

Its just yesterday SRK had held a media meet wherein he stated about the Airport security status. He said there are no updations from the authorities and they could have traced his fingertips to assure he is not that Sharukh khan which according the Investigation bureau is a pakistani terrorist .
He was highly disaapointed by their treatment, and mentioned that he would cut down his visits to US because of this incident.

Yes the media to a large extent has over exposed and over hyped the entire scene and its always noticed tht the Page 3 guys gets much more public attention( all thanks to the media exertions ) then any other issue.

SRK nd the indian media shudnt have given ths issue so much importance....lotsa foreign celebrities have gne thru the same ordeal w/o making a big deal outta it

Well on SRK's Detention issue i think it was not that much big issue as media made it. I think its important for US to maitain high security standards and they proved that. I think India must also do same thing because its natural after 26/11 to raise security. I also think that media has over highlighted the SRK's detention issue. Every country has its own norms and on duty officers have to follow them.

I support the US authorities regarding mandatory security check for everyone. However SRK is a global icon and detaining such a personality for 2hrs is unacceptable. Things could have been easily soughted out in mere 5-10 mins even if the airport authorities were unaware about SRKs global stature and identity. Its true racist profiling exists in all parts of the world today which is difficult to abolish(coz of different beliefs of people) but than people should atleast skip the known personality from such situations. Be it SRK or any other known personaliity.

Media is always in mood to cook stories and incresase their TRPs. Media deliberately asked Salman Khan about this issue knowing the on-going battle between the two veteran actors. On other hand they also see Katrina Kaif sorrounded by SRK's bodyguard and again cook stories and present it nicely on TV. Hats off to media ppl...Why do they need to ignite fire amongst people all d time.

the answer lies in rajeev shukla's reply where he said" i dont think SRK is capable enough to use the American security agencies for his film's promotion"
