Something Mysterious
Our body is an amazing machinery programmed from the start…we don’t have to worry about every breath or every heart beat or our kidneys to filter all the liquid and so on. The automatic control of our bodily functions is a great testimony about our Creator’s intelligence and power!
Enlarge ImageWhen God made human beings, He made something that was unique...not only did He make something that was at the top of His creation, but also that something was wonderfully made and God Himself pronounced it good. It is an insult to God and to the human race in general, to think -much less say out loud and teach - that the human race is something that evolved over millions of years and that the thing that contributed most to our existence was something as ugly and smelly like the monkey. No, no, God created us not only to rule over the earth, but also He created us in His image, I mean what an honor, how wonderful is that?
"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them." Genesis 1:27 There is another verse in the Bible where the author is praising the Lord because He is fearfully and wonderfully made.
There is no mistaking in the fact that we have been made in the image of God, we are too complex, there is no mistaking the fact that we do have a Creator that made us in a wonderful way and made us so complex and intricate that it would be nearly impossible for us to have come about by a series of accidents or some big bang a couple million years ago.
Just take a look at the eye, how deep and intricate can you get, did that come about by chance? How did our species survive for the millions of years it would have taken to ACIDENTALY grow an eye that was fully functional? How many millions of years did it take to accidentally grow two fully functional eyes?
Lets take a look at one of the things that our body performs but something that we are hardly ever aware of it, we never really think of it, but it goes on all the time, and we do not even give it a passing thought.
The thing that I am talking about is the automatic control of our bodily functions that goes on at all times.
As you may well know, most of our bodily functions are not controlled concisely but automatically controlled and regulated by nerve pathways. Your heart beats, and you are aware of the fact that it is beating but you really have no conscious control over it, whether it beats normally or whether you are experiencing heart palpitations there is really no way to control it consciously...it is quite impossible.
Did you ever wonder why a person cannot move when he or she is paralyzed...no its not because they are called paralyzed, that is just the name, thousands of bodily functions are controlled by the brain through the nervous system, through nerve fibers that make up the automatic nervous system.
Can you imagine what it would be like if we went about life having to consciously think of every single heart beat and every drawing in of air, food digestion, liver, kidneys... just to name a few things... it would not be much of a life, would it?
God in his wonderful mercy decided to take all that off our brains and to give us quite a break in making the automatic nervous system and leaving us to be able to concentrate on other things such as worshiping Him and giving Him the praise and glory that HE deserves. Sadly though, there are too many times that we do not do even that. We spend too much time worrying and thinking about the stuff that God has already provided for.
So many times we sit there and try to work out ways to do this and fix that when God had already provided for all of it, He has already taken care of the problem, stop trying to control every aspect of you life because just like trying to control the beat of your heart or the workings of your body, you will not be able to do it...if you try you will surly fail and fail miserably.
God wants us to start trusting Him a little bit more, God wants us to stop trying to control every aspect of our lives so that HE can take that burden and leave us to do what we were created to do...to bring glory to Him. Because He is the Only One Who deserves it!
