Slumdog Millionaire made by an Indian director

If slumdog millionaire was made by an India Director in the same way as Danny Boyle,would it have been able to grab 8 Oscars??

What do you guys think?

no...India had sent better movies for the oscar (Tare zameen par, lagaan) but none won...And personally I like dark night much more then Slumdog...dont know what the jury looks for

Slumdog millionaire is brillaintly directed movie and its success is majorly contibuted by Indians (Co-director,actors,technicians and musician),but had it been directed and produced by Indians it would not have won an oscar.
Before this many Indian movies have received International awards which are more prestigious than Oscars but even than could not get nominated for Oscar.
Oscars is just sort of popularity award .

if it would have been made by indian director he wouldnt be able to get it rite as per hollywood standards and reaching to oscar may be would have been possible but getting 8 oscars woudnt have been possible.

No way .... if it would have been directed by an Indian director ... then no chance of getting even nominated ... i guess every one remember "Salaam Mumbai" , this was also a film based on the slum lives .... it hardly got appreciated by our own Indian film industry .. why bother about some other countries' ????
