REPAIR AND CONTINUATION OF THE PROJECT
The Sky Bus as a mode of transport in South Asian countries had so impressed Abdullah
Ahmad Badawi, then prime minister of Malaysia, that he offered Rs. 2,000 crores (over $322
million) as an outright grant to finance the project in Hyderabad. The American Society of
Engineers, World Intellectual Property Office in Geneva, as well as tough tests by the US
Patent Office, certified Sky Bus as a novel invention
On Oct 15, 2003, the railway minister, unveiling the Sky Bus prototype outside Madgaon
station, proposed a grant of Rs.50 crores for the construction of a 1.6 km test track.
The pilot project, under the first phase, would have linked Mapusa with Panaji, over a stretch
of 10.5 km. But the project was scrapped after a misshaping in 2004 which led to the death of
1 and injured other 2 people the Sky Bus did not derail or capsize, even while negotiating a
sharp bend at high speed, during a test run Sep 25, 2004 in Madgaon in Goa. This kind of an
extreme impact would have derailed coaches on conventional tracks, resulting in heavy
casualties, pointed out Rajaram, the chief scientist. However, one person, standing near the
door, died when he fell and hit the concrete base metres below. An overzealous operator's
failure to apply brakes around the curve caused the mishap, according to an inquiry report.
All this points out that this was not a technical fault in train rather it was because of fault in
construction of bridge pillars and when we reinitiate the project we need to hire a good
construction company for the production of railway tracks for the fulfilment of which we are
going to hire L&T as our construction company.
As of now the current 1.6 km of bridge line has not been destroyed and we are going to continue
our construction from that point only although we need to make sure that before the
construction begins the faults which remained earlier would be dealt with.
To meet the technical requirements of this project we are looking forward to hire the German
railway scientists as they are already operating one exact same train in their country
Our aim is to complete the construction work by 2018 and start operation by August 2019, the
time period between 2018 and 2019 would be used for sufficient testing of the completed
project.

MARKETING STRATEGIES
CONVENTIONAL
? Magazine cover
We will try to publish our ads on cover pages of as many local magazines as possible.
? Pamphlet
We will distribute pamphlets on the local beaches of Goa. This step would help us in
reaching to a particular category of customers.
? Social media
This will help to convey the message to tourist as well as local public. It will also create
awareness among foreign tourist about the availability of this service.
? Adv. On local television channels
This step would help us in spreading awareness about this project in local public and
would help us in generating a permanent consumer base.

UNCONVENTIONAL
? Two days’ free travel
This the most exclusive marketing strategy in this public can practically experience by
travelling through this train and we can get lots public feedback.
? Interviews by IIT ians
We will record the statement of 10 to 12 well recognized iitians and we will publish
their statements. This strategy will help us in addressing the safety concern of common
people.
? Banners on other public transport
This will catch the attention of passengers travelling through other public
transportations and this will compel them to change their rides.
? Roadside banners
This technique attracts lots of people and it will help to increase the no. of passengers
as more visible along the road side and no. of spectators.

? Inauguration by Prime minister
We will request the Prime Minister to be available at the inauguration ceremony of sky
bus metro. This is possible as this is a Government Project and if it happens it would
prove to be a huge marketing strategy.

(3)
FUNDING
We were allocated a fund of Rs 50 Crores for the construction of 1/8
th
of the total project in
2004 according to that we expect an allocation of funds worth Rs 800 crore from the central
government for the completion whole project and this project was funded solely by the central
government in 2004 that’s why we are expecting the whole fund to come from central
government only.

EXPANSION PLANS
We are looking forward to completing this project by 2018 and after the successful launch of
this project we have plans to expand in the city of Hyderabad, as this was earlier proposed in
2009 and after this expansion the cities like Ahmadabad, Indore and Chandigarh.
