SIIB, Pune Celebrates Convocation Day
The convocation day is the highlight of every student's life. It marks the culmination of their academic life. SIIB celebrated this momentous day on 10th April 2007 at the SIC auditorium. Mrs. Lalita Gupte, Chairperson, ICICI Venture Funds Management Co. Ltd. was the Guest of Honour and delivered the convocation address.
She also awarded the Post Graduate Diplomas to 114 students of the Post Graduate Diploma in International Business and 43 students of Post Graduate Diploma in Agri-Business.
The function commenced with graceful solemnity after the welcome address. Honourable Director of SIIB, Dr. Mrs. Rajani R. Gupte, presented the Annual Report and highlighted the advancements made by the institute in the last one year and the stature it has earned in academic excellence and corporate interface.
Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Joint Director, Symbiosis, highlighted the way Symbiosis Society and SIIB has evolved with time. She told that for any organization, the three aspects of success are Image Building, Excellence Building and Resource Building (Both Human and Financial).
"No one can stop an idea whose time has come and Symbiosis is one such idea. Tomorrow it will be a knowledge power to reckon with said," Mr. M. S. Raste, Vice Chancellor, Symbiosis International University.
Mrs. Lalita Gupte, Chairperson, ICICI Venture Funds, in her address, accentuated the necessity of nurturing talent. "It is not just strategising but flawless execution that marks the difference between a winner and an also-ran. It is important to keep on learning, remain tuned to global changes and stay rooted in Indian culture and tradition," she said. She emphasized the ability to manage change and to work in a group to find success. Corporate India is on an aggressive growth path making it all the more important that we remember that ethics and social consciousness are necessary for long term sustainability. Finally, she asked everyone to find and exploit opportunities and to be partner in creating an economically inclusive growth in the country.
Following this, the students received their diplomas from the Chief Guest and the top performers received awards and prizes from industry barons.
