SIIB Leadership 2009
Every year SIIB organizes the “Leadership Series” as a platform for interaction between its students and Industry leaders. This helps the students gain the much needed industry insights, adding to their learning process.
Following the success of the first SIIB Leadership Series in 2003, which was graced by prominent personalities of India Inc such as Mr.Homi Khusrokhan (MD,Tata Tea), Mr.U.V.Bose (CEO, Air Sahara), Mr.Rajnish Narula (CEO, Alliance Capital Asset Management) to name a few - SIIB Leadership has served as an exceeding platform for the future young managers of SIIB and delegates from other top B-schools to interact and the get the real feel of what it takes to make it to the pinnacle in a career ladder.
Over the subsequent SIIB Leadership Series in following years, the annual flagship event of the Symbiosis Institute of International Business (Pune) has witnessed the confluence of the diasporic experiences and rejuvenative thoughts, from the leaders of all genre of Corporate India.
Mr. Adi Godrej (Chairman, Godrej group), Mr. Habil Khorakiwala (Chairman, Wockhardt Ltd), Mr.Jagdish Capoor (Chairman, HDFC Bank), Mr. M. N. Singh (Chairman, Invent ARC Pvt.Ltd), Mr. Bala Swaminathan (MD, Standard Chartered Bank) are few of the many distinguished personalities who have graced the ocassion in succeeding Leadership Symposium.
The Leadership Series of 2008 saw the extension to a yet new dimension of inviting speakers from diverse professions apart from the corporate leaders to noted movie directors and photographers. With the theme "Journey to Success", 2008 series was marked by the presence of Ms. Ranjana Kumar (Vigilance commissioner), Mr. Prabir Kumar Aditya (Director-IT, United Health Group), Mr. Ravi Kastia (Global Head, Aditya Birla Group), Mr. R. R. Balakrishnan (Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, Lowe Lintas India Pvt. Ltd), Mr. Vipin Ghate (Head HR, Suzlon Infrastructure Services Ltd), Mr. Ramesh Chandak (MD& CEO of KEC International Ltd) and the Ace Photograper Mr. Gautam Rajadhyaksha, who is one of India's best known celebrity portraitist, having photographed almost all the icons of the Indian Film industry
They say in a competitive changing world, “entrepreneurship”, whether at corporate level or at individual level, is absolutely necessary for long term survival. The spirit of entrepreneurship includes imagination, inventiveness and openness to the new. With this spirit the theme for this years Leadership series to be held on 12th September 2009 at Symbiosis Infotech Campus, Hinjewadi, Pune is “Leadership and Entrepreneurial Spirit”.
