Siemens bags DMRC’s contract worth Rs248 cr

New Delhi: An order worth Rs248 crore has been awarded by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) to a consortium comprising Siemens Ltd and Siemens AG for the electrification of Phase-III of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System. Of the total order, value for Siemens Ltd is outlined at Rs176 crore and Siemens AG is at Rs72 crore.

The project will be delivered in various phases, starting from the Central Secretariat to Mandi House phase. Scope of work under the said order involves design, manufacture, supply and commissioning of state-of-the-art 25kV AC rigid catenary system for overhead electrical line supply. The project also involves electrification of 26 km route of tunnels and 42 auxiliary sub-stations along the MRTS corridor.

Commenting on the said order, Tilak Raj Seth, Executive Vice President and Sector Cluster Lead – Infrastructure & Cities, Siemens South Asia said, “The order manifests the dependable traction power supply and contract line systems that are a part of our portfolio.”

The first major rail electrification contract by DMRC primarily aims to develop the Smart Grid division of Siemens Infrastructure and Cities Sector. The order has been acquired by Siemens through an international competitive bidding process.
