Bangalore, Karnataka, July 30, 2011 – SIBM Bangalore hosted Cross Roads, an amalgamation of four different events over two days.
The event kick-started with Samaagam on July 30, 2011 which was attended by scores of Alumni members who were elated on coming back to a place close to their hearts and rekindling old memories. Following the tradition of paying tribute to the almighty before the start, a pleasant performance was put forth by one of the students on “Ganesh Vandana”. The event progressed with a play “Kiteful of skies” scripted on multiple events running simultaneously with each story focusing on the roadblocks people face in life and the realization they have after it.
The second major attraction of the day was “Smiling future”, a performance by kids from various NGOs. They entertained the audience with plays, songs and dance recitals. The array of talent showcased by the differently abled kids left the auditorium filled with the sound of applauses. Funds were collected in boxes within the college which were equally allocated to all the participating NGOs. Smiling Future was coupled with the launch of Nissan’s ad making competition ‘One Shot’. This is a forum hosted by SIBM Bangalore where ideas would be collated for Nissan’s next advertising campaign. The winner would get a cash prize and an opportunity to work with Nissan on this campaign.
The next to commence was the most awaited event “En Vogue” – the fashion extravaganza. There were a total of 5 teams which participated and each team portrayed their ramp walking skills based on various themes. The SIMC team with the ‘garage’ theme bagged the first prize and the SIBM Bangalore team with the ‘seven deadly sins’ theme was the runners up.
The second event of Jazz, Opus – the singing competition was held on July 31, 2011 where participants from various colleges and corporates were present. The melody of the songs sung left the audience humming their tunes well after it was over.
Cross Roads concluded with “Razzmatazz”, a dance competition. Teams from Welingkar, IFIM to name a few danced with panache to bring the audience to their feet. There were different genres on display right from Fusion to Bhangra with foot tapping numbers and eye-catchy attires. In the end it was the “Lethal Bhangra” team from SIBM which stole the show with SIMC as runners up.
All in all Cross Roads helped four directions (read genres) converge into a single place – SIBM Bangalore.
