Should we amend the abortion law?

Recently a woman in India wants to abort a 28-week foetus fearing that the foetus will have permanent pacemaker throughout its life. But the court denied the abortion on legal terms.Do you agree what court done is correct? What is the point in denying the abortion when both the parents are ready to abort citing health reasons? What is the point in seeing the child suffering infront of the eyes?Instead they could have gone for abortion. So do you think the court has acted correctly in this case?Should we amend the abortion law and extend the period from 20 weeks to 24/25 weeks?

yes i definitely think that the law should be amended.
i mean common its been a decade the law has been not revised despite the progress in society and lifestyle. Parents have total right to their child existence. i vaguely remember a case in calcutta where a judgement was passed that a mother was allowed to abort her child although the father was unwilling.here both the parents are of view the that the child be aborted.our society though it has ruled out that "special children" are at par like other children. it just superficial statement. we all are aware the life which these children face.
Its high time that our judicial system do a major amendment regarding womens right. a mother has a right to give birth then they also have the right to decide their existence.

In fact its been more than two decades that government has amended the law..Law should be amended but why till 24/25 weeks only ???? In this case , the couple have shown genuine reasons saying the child will suffer congenial heart problems after birth .. But there is a risk that mother will also die as doctors say..But imagine this situation .. Had the SC given permission for the couple to abort the child and had the mother died , things would have been worse .. Also people will start the blame game on the law ... So the SC should have given them the permision to abort the child but it should be subjected to women's risk..

there is a very famous blogger - amit verma (india uncut) ....
For all kinds of govt intervention he terms it as the 'mai-baap" syndrome. Thats precisely what this is. A man sitting in a judge's chair and deciding how the rest of us should live our lives....

Can we pls leave it to the mother and father to decide.. the ones who actually have to suffer the emotional and financial trauma of the situation...

However, i see no change in the law in the immediate future.. abortion is one tricky landmine between feminists and religious heads.. and no govt really wants to step into it.. so in all probability, this case will be forgotton in a week and its back to status-quo.

it was denied because it was risky for the life of the lady. if she wanted to abort the baby then why did she think of it so late...???
